“Everything begins with an idea!”

SEBI in association with BSE, NSE, NSDL, CDSL, KFintech, CAMS, Link Intime, MCX and NCDEX is conducting a 6-week Ideathon titled ‘Manthan’, to promote innovation in the securities market. Manthan will facilitate the creation of a pool of ideas and innovative solutions revolving around the securities market.
A great idea requires a healthy environment to be turned into reality. We are inviting innovative ideas from students, startup founders, professionals, academicians across the following themes:

  1. Investor Education, Protection and ease of investing: Investors are the backbone of the securities market. We invite ideas focusing on building capacity of investors through education and awareness and enable them to take informed investment decisions. Your ideas can revolve around fraud prevention for retail investors, spreading awareness among investors through social media or any platforms, inclusive growth of securities market or any other endeavor that promotes education and protection of the interests of investors.

  2. Securities Market Development: Well-developed securities markets are the backbone of any financial system. They serve as a barometer of the financial health of the economy. Considering the tremendous growth in the recent years, there is still scope for improvement in the securities market. We encourage you to share your ideas promoting securities market development like the role of technology in implementing solutions to the challenges faced today, enhancing product innovations in the capital markets or making the commodities market better accessible to the investors.

  3. Market Regulation: Regulation is a fundamental pillar supporting the success of the financial services industry, ensuring protection of investors and integrity of markets. With evolving regulatory requirements, it has become important to keep pace with the growing complexity, speed and sophistication of the securities market. We invite ideas focusing on building regulatory capacity in the ecosystem, role of RegTech and SupTech in streamlining the supervision and regulatory compliances, role of technology or any other innovation in the field of market regulation.

  4. Integration within the financial ecosystem: To digitally transform the securities market, it is necessary to integrate the financial ecosystem across various verticals. We encourage you to share ideas that promote more and more integration within financial ecosystem by providing easier onboarding facilities to new investors and making use of technology to innovate and address the challenges faced in capital markets.
